Fairfield Primary Election Results 2026: Lamont, Goldstein Cruised To Victory

The town's registered Democrats and Republicans cast ballots Tuesday for gubernatorial and congressional candidate races.

FAIRFIELD, CT — Fairfield's registered Democrats and Republicans voted Tuesday in the Connecticut Primary, backing incumbent Gov. Ned Lamont and Congressional candidate Dr. Michael Goldstein. The two won their races.

According to unofficial results from the Secretary of State's Office, Lamont received 2,019 votes from Democrats in Fairfield, while his opponent for the party's gubernatorial nomination, state Rep. Josh Elliott, garnered 741 votes.

The breakdown in Fairfield was Lamont receiving 73.15 percent of votes, to Elliott's 26.85 percent.

Statewide, Lamont garnered 121,788 Democratic votes, or 67.89 percent, to Elliott's 57,594, or 32.11 percent.

Lamont will face state Sen. Ryan Fazio in the Nov. 3 election.

While local and state Democrats were casting ballots in the gubernatorial primary, Fairfield and state Republicans in the 4th Congressional District selected Goldstein to run against incumbent U.S. Rep. Jim Himes.

The number of local votes cast in the Republican congressional primary totaled less than 500.

Goldstein received 316 votes in Fairfield, or 69.6 percent, while his opponent, Daniel Miressi, only garnered 138, or 30.4 percent, according to the unofficial tally.

In the district, which encompasses southern Fairfield County, Goldstein received 4,632 votes, or 74.25 percent, compared to Miressi's 1,606, which came to 25.25 percent.

The Nov. 3 election for the 4th District congressional seat is a repeat of two years ago, when Goldstein lost to Himes.
