All politics is local. In 2026, all local politics is national.
Yet Connecticut Republicans ask for our votes while staying silent on their party's actions in Washington. They want the "good Republican" pass without answering for what their party is doing in their name.
Before I hear another word about "one-party rule" in Hartford, I'd love to hear how every local and state Republican candidate answers these questions:
Who won the 2020 election? Do you trust Connecticut's election results? Should elections be nationalized? What would you do to protect free and fair elections here?
Was January 6th an attempted coup? If not, what was it? Do you agree with the blanket pardon for J6 defendants? How would you explain these events to Connecticut's state and local police?
Do you support the administration's immigration and deportation agenda? Are you OK with masked ICE agents raiding our towns and rounding people up for deportation? If not, what would you do to change it?
Do you acknowledge we're no longer deporting "only criminals"? Do you support stripping protected status from asylum seekers? How does the deportation of Haitian workers affect Connecticut?
Do you believe the women (then children) who testified about abuse in the Epstein case? Do you believe our president participated in the abuse?
Do you agree with the military's refusal to promote female and Black officers? Should transgender servicemembers who served honorably be summarily dismissed? What do you say to Connecticut families with someone in uniform?
Is the federal government still a reliable source of health information? What should Connecticut do to protect residents' health? Do you believe vaccines cause autism?
Do you support dissolving the Department of Education? How does moving IDEA out of that department affect disabled students in Connecticut, and what should the legislature do about it?
Was Connecticut right to fill the gap left by SNAP and Medicaid cuts? Why or why not?
Do you agree children have slipped through the cracks of Connecticut's social services? Do you support the new homeschool registration law?
