FAIRFIELD, CT — Pequot Library has scheduled a series of events in September, including dance and music performances, programs tied to an exhibition on American independence, children's activities and an author event.
The Paul Taylor Dance Company will perform Sept. 19 in a benefit for the library. The company will perform "Brandenburgs" and "Company B." Tickets start at $100 per person, with proceeds supporting the library's operating budget.
Several September events are connected to "UNFINISHED REVOLUTION: 250 Years of Marking American Independence," a Special Collections exhibition on view through Sept. 26.
Actor James Naughton, along with Mia Dillon and Patricia Kalember, will present "The Declaration of Independence and Equality" at 7 p.m. Sept. 10. The performance will examine the language, ideals and tensions of the Declaration of Independence.
The performers plan to read the 1848 Seneca Falls Declaration of Sentiments, a reproduction of which is included in the exhibition, and the 1876 "Declaration and Protest of the Women of the United States," among other texts.
The library will hold a closing celebration for the exhibition at 7 p.m. Sept. 25, featuring a live band and a performance by James Naughton and friends. Admission is $50 per person, with proceeds supporting library programs.

Sept. 12, 1 p.m. — "UNFINISHED REVOLUTION: 250 Years of Marking American Independence" Final Exhibition Tour: A final guided tour will examine how Americans have marked the nation's independence over 250 years.
Sept. 17, 11:15 a.m. — Further Afield Day Trip: The Hill-Stead Museum: Pequot Library will host a trip to the Hill-Stead Museum. The $65 per-person fee includes a private tour and restaurant lunch.

Sept. 12, 2 p.m. — "Rêves Musicaux," a Concert With Caroline Nicolas and Kevin Payne: Cellist Caroline Nicolas will perform with Kevin Payne.
Children and Families
Sept. 14, 4:30 p.m. — Lego Challenges: Children can participate in Lego activities focused on creativity and problem-solving.
Sept. 17, 10 a.m. — Sensory Storytime: The program will feature stories and activities designed for a range of learning styles and needs.
Sept. 22, 4 p.m. — Nature Explorers: Fall Edition: A hands-on nature program will focus on the changing season.
Sept. 26, 1 p.m. — Ballet Storytime With Tutu School: Children and caregivers can participate in a storytime combining books, movement and introductory ballet-inspired activities.
Sept. 28, 4:30 p.m. — Victoria Kann's "Snickerdoodle Puppy Party": The puppy-themed children's program is inspired by "Snickerdoodle." Kann is the author and illustrator known for creating the "Pinkalicious" series.
Health and Wellness
Sept. 14 and 21, 10 a.m. — Monday Meanders: Adults Programs Manager Genevieve Swenson will lead a 45-minute walk through the historic neighborhood.
Literary Events
Sept. 17, 6 p.m. — Meet the Author: Isabela Livino: Livino will appear for the launch of her gothic novel.
