Fairfield Historic District Commission To Review 5 Property Demolition Proposals

FAIRFIELD, CT — The Fairfield Historic District Commission is scheduled to review five properties listed for demolition when it meets Thursday, Sept. 10.

The properties are 76 Pratt St., 269 Halley Ave., 770 Commerce Drive, 730 Commerce Drive and 36 Romanock Place, according to the commission's agenda. Additional information about the proposed demolitions, or what action, if any, the commission may take, was not disclosed.

The commission also is scheduled to hold public hearings involving properties at 669 Harbor Road in Southport, owned by Pequot Yacht Club Inc., and 889 Old Post Road, owned by Thomas and Roisin Black. Additional information about the work, or applications that are the subjects of the hearings, also was not disclosed.

Under old business, commissioners may review several preservation-related matters, including presenting guidelines to the community, membership in the National Alliance of Preservation Commissions for the Certified Local Government program, the town's historic property inventory, City Squared applications and mitigation for demolition.

The chairman's report includes repairs at 323 Old Post Road. A violation involving 176 Main St. also is listed on the agenda.

The in-person public hearing will begin at 4:15 p.m. on Sept. 10, in the Second Floor Conference Room of Independence Hall in Fairfield. Additionally, the meeting is scheduled to be streamed via Webex.
