State Senate Candidate Amybeth Laroche Won’t Say Where She Works: What is She Hiding?

She has repeatedly tied her opponent to his employer's actions, while refusing to tell voters who signs her paychecks

Republican candidate Amybeth Laroche is making a big ask of voters in the 28th district: send her to Hartford as their State Senator. At the same time, she's refusing to answer one simple question: where is she employed?

On the Lisa Wexler Show on September 10, Laroche was asked three separate times who she works for. She confirmed she holds a "corporate job" and that it was not "necessary" to elaborate further. She denied that her job would pose a conflict of interest with the office she seeks without actually clarifying what her job is.

Every member of the Connecticut General Assembly is required by law to file a statement of financial interests, including sources of income. One reason for this is to allow voters and colleagues to spot potential conflicts of interest before they arise. If elected, Amybeth Laroche would have to file such a statement. So why won't she do it now? Is she worried that there is something in her employment that would concern voters? If there's a good reason Ms. Laroche can't say where her paycheck comes from, she should explain it. If there isn't a good reason, she should answer the question and give voters the information prior to the election.

So, we'll ask again: who do you work for, Ms. Laroche? It's a reasonable question, and voters in Bethel, Easton, Fairfield, and Newtown deserve an answer before they head to the polls.
