Schedule Changed For Annual Fairfield Warde Vs. Ludlowe Football Game

The rivalry game has typically been held in the morning on Thanksgiving Day.

FAIRFIELD, CT — In an effort to allow more people to attend the contest, the annual rivalry game between the Fairfield Warde and Fairfield Ludlowe football teams will be moved from Thanksgiving Day to the Wednesday night before Thanksgiving, Superintendent of Schools Michael Testani announced Thursday.

"To help ensure that more members of our community can be part of this special occasion, beginning this year, the game will be played on the Wednesday evening prior to Thanksgiving," Testani wrote in a message to community. "The game is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate school spirit and cheer on our student athletes."

The 2026 game is scheduled to take place at Ludlowe; last year, the Ludlowe Falcons handily beat the Warde Mustangs 35-2.

In 21 meetings between the two local high schools, Ludlowe holds a slight edge with 11 victories to Warde's 10, according to Connecticut Prep Football. Ludlowe has also won the last six head-to-head games.

"Holding the event on Wednesday evening will give our football players, cheerleaders, dance team members, and pep band members the opportunity to perform in front of a larger crowd of students, families, and community members," Testani said. "We look forward to bringing our community together to cheer on our students and enjoy an exciting night of football under the lights."

The kickoff time and ticketing information will be announced closer to Nov. 25, Testani added.
