Fairfield Open Houses Oct. 10-11: A Pine Creek Home With A Dock, An 1894 Farmhouse And 10 More

Twelve Fairfield homes, one in Southport, hold open houses Oct. 10-11, from a $398,000 condo to a $2.1 million Pine Creek home.

FAIRFIELD, CT — Fairfield's open houses this weekend include a waterfront home with its own dock on Pine Creek and an 1894 farmhouse in lower Greenfield Hill. The farmhouse, which its listing calls "the Enchantment," comes with a barn, a heated gathering studio and gardens with fountains. A 1932 English Colonial in Stratfield Village has arched doorways and a circular drive, and Southport offers a village Colonial with a walk-up attic its listing suggests could become a studio.

Twelve Fairfield homes, including one in Southport, are holding open houses Saturday, Oct. 10, and Sunday, Oct. 11, with prices from $398,000 to $2.1 million, according to Zillow.com.

Saturday, Oct. 10

36 Brooklawn Parkway, noon to 2 p.m. (also Sunday, 1 to 3 p.m.), $949,000. New to the market Oct. 8, this 1924 Colonial in the Stratfield neighborhood has a front porch, built-ins and hardwood floors, a front-to-back family room with a gas fireplace and a dining room with a butler's pantry. The house spans four finished levels, and the yard has a bluestone patio, perennial gardens and a stone wall. New roofs top the house and the detached garage. It's a four-bedroom, 2.5-bath homewith 2,368 square feet.

1321 Brookside Drive, noon to 2 p.m. (also Sunday, noon to 2 p.m.), $1.5 million. Called "the Enchantment" in its listing, this renovated 1894 farmhouse sits on 2.9 acres in lower Greenfield Hill, with exposed beams, wood trim, a new roof and Marvin windows. Paths wind through gardens with fountains to the original barn with a loft, a heated gathering studio with skylights, a three-stall barn with a cupola and poultry shed, and a workshop barn. It's a two-bedroom, two-bath home with 2,064 square feet.

1303 Melville Ave., noon to 3 p.m. (also Sunday, 1 to 3 p.m.), $785,000. This updated 1963 raised ranch has an open living area and a finished lower level with a family room, a full bath and laundry, plus a private backyard. It's a four-bedroom, two-bath home with 1,810 square feet on 0.45 acres. Its price was cut by $40,000 on Oct. 4.

11 Oldfield Drive, 1 to 3 p.m., $1,195,000. On an in-town cul-de-sac within walking distance of town, the train and the beaches, according to the listing, this 1950 Cape has a white kitchen with Viking appliances and a living room with a wood-burning fireplace. A finished lower level adds flexible space, and the fenced yard has a dining patio and a white picket fence. It's a four-bedroom, two-bath home with 2,124 square feet.

Sunday, Oct. 11

360 Autumn Ridge Road, noon to 2 p.m., $999,000. On a cul-de-sac next to open space, this 1964 contemporary Colonial has new windows and three fireplaces: in the living room, the dining room, which opens to a screened porch, and the lower level, a stone one. The first floor has a primary suite with a walk-in closet, and a whole-house generator is included. It's a three-bedroom, 2.5-bath home with 2,336 square feet on 0.66 acres.

285 Old Dam Road, noon to 2 p.m., $2.1 million. New to the market Oct. 8, this 1992 house on Pine Creek has a private dock with access to Long Island Sound, walls of windows with water views, and an expansive deck with an awning. A vaulted bonus room has a fireplace, and the primary suite looks out on the water. An extra parcel across the street adds parking and access to marsh trails. It's a four-bedroom, 2.5-bath home with 2,583 square feet.

1035 Black Rock Turnpike #1035, noon to 2 p.m., $398,000. This second-floor condo has its own entrance and address in a two-unit property with no monthly HOA fee, according to the listing. A living room with soaring ceilings flows into the dining and kitchen areas, and French doors open to a private deck; a gas grill is included. It's a three-bedroom, one-bath condo with 1,280 square feet. Its price was cut by $31,000 on Sept. 24.

28 Country Road #28, noon to 1:30 p.m., $1,199,000. Listed Oct. 6, this new construction near Fairfield University and Holland Hill School is one of two units sharing a driveway and garage roof, each with its own fenced yard and no HOA fee, according to the listing. It has white oak floors, a quartz waterfall island, a fireplace, a third-floor suite now set up as an office and a finished lower level. Zillow lists it as a four-bedroom, 3.5-bath home with 3,300 square feet.

2082 Stratfield Road, noon to 3 p.m., $525,000. This 1939 Cape in the Stratfield neighborhood has an eat-in kitchen with granite counters, a living room with a fireplace and crown molding, and a full bath with Carrara marble floors. The listing notes that the unfinished lower level has been waterproofed and that the home could use some cosmetic updating. A detached garage and a shed add space. It's a four-bedroom, 1.5-bath home with 1,082 square feet.

781 Tunxis Hill Road, 1 to 3 p.m., $634,000. In the Tunxis Hill area, this 1959 Cape has an open living room with a wood fireplace connected to the kitchen and dining space, with sliders to a fenced backyard. There are two bedrooms and a full bath on each floor, and the garage leads into a finished basement. It's a four-bedroom, two-bath home with 1,310 square feet.

96 Benedict Ave., 1 to 3 p.m., $979,000. This 1932 English Colonial in Stratfield Village sits on an oversized, landscaped lot with stone walls and a circular driveway. Period details include arched doorways, bay windows and French doors, and the kitchen has a granite island and banquette seating. Upstairs, the enlarged primary suite has a dressing room and a marble bath. A main-floor family room near a full bath could serve as a fifth bedroom. It's a four-bedroom, three-bath home with 2,897 square feet.

35 Sherwood Place, 1 to 3 p.m., $1,149,000. In the village of Southport, this updated 1940 Colonial has hardwood floors, a deck over a spacious backyard and a second-floor family room with a fireplace that could be another bedroom. The listing suggests the walk-up attic could become an office, a studio or an expanded primary suite, and the basement is finished. It's a four-bedroom, 2.5-bath home with 1,892 square feet. Its price was cut by $100,000 on Sept. 24.

Also open Sunday: 1321 Brookside Drive (noon to 2 p.m.), 36 Brooklawn Parkway and 1303 Melville Ave. (1 to 3 p.m.).

Make a weekend of it: Saturday at noon, choose between Stratfield's Brooklawn Parkway and Greenfield Hill's Enchantment farmhouse, then end in town on Oldfield Drive. Sunday has nine homes, three of them in Stratfield alone (Stratfield Road, Brooklawn Parkway and Benedict Avenue). The Pine Creek house (noon to 2 p.m.) and the Southport Colonial (1 to 3 p.m.) make good last stops.
