FAIRFIELD, CT — The Fairfield Arts Commission is asking the public to help select a theme for the town's third annual Artistic Visions Challenge, a juried art competition scheduled to kick off in early December.
People of all ages can submit theme suggestions through Nov. 15. The person who submits the winning theme will receive a $50 Fairfield Community e-gift card.
The Artistic Visions Challenge is open to student artists ages 10 to 19 and adults ages 20 and older who live, work or attend school in Fairfield.
The competition encourages artists to create original works based on a selected theme. Each entry must also incorporate at least one "Easter egg," or hidden message or reference for viewers to discover.
"We believe that engaging and encouraging our young people in the arts is essential for fostering creativity and community spirit," Commission Chair Charlie MacDonald said in a statement. "We hope that the Art Challenge will inspire artists of all ages and provide them with an outlet for their creative expression."
The theme submission contest is open to people of all ages, regardless of whether they plan to participate in the art competition.
The winning theme will be announced following the commission's November meeting. Submissions must be received by 11:59 p.m. Nov. 15, 2026, to be considered.
Individuals and businesses interested in sponsoring the Artistic Visions Challenge can contact the Fairfield Arts Commission at 203-256-3120 or arts@fairfieldct.gov for information about sponsorship opportunities.
