FAIRFIELD, CT — Nine Fairfield public schools were named Schools of Distinction in Connecticut's latest Next Generation Accountability results, earning a combined 31 recognitions, Fairfield schools officials announced.
The results mark an increase from the previous year, when seven Fairfield schools received a combined 16 recognitions.
Fairfield schools accounted for 25 percent of all Schools of Distinction awarded among the 21 districts in District Reference Group B (DRG B), a classification the Connecticut State Department of Education uses to group similar communities.
Fairfield Ludlowe High School was among the schools recognized and was one of only seven high schools statewide to earn Schools of Distinction honors.
"We're proud of what our schools have accomplished and grateful for the dedication behind these results," Superintendent Michael Testani said in a statement. "This recognition inspires us to build on our success and continue expanding the number of Schools of Distinction in the years ahead."
