Ribbon Cutting at Akita Japanese Restaurant

First Selectman Michael Tetreau joined restaurant owner Kammy Chow for a ribbon cutting ceremony Friday to celebrate the opening of AKITA Japanese Tappanyaki Restaurant.

Lovers of Asian Fusion cuisine will be pleased to know that the former Kobis Japanese Steakhouse is once again open for business. Kammy Chow, a 30 year veteran in the restaurant trade, purchased the Steak house over the summer and has reopened under the new name, Akita. The restaurant is located at 451 Kings Highway East in Fairfield.

Chef Po Leung has created a menu highlighting traditional hibachi, Asian Fusion, sushi and sashimi – made with live lobsters and crabs, not frozen – and Japanese Tappanyaki, a variation of hibachi cooking. Chef Po honed his craft in Hong Kong, Japan, Thailand before coming to America and is pleased to present customers with authentically prepared Asian dishes.
