Skip & Lorenzo Wyatt of Fairfield's Mr. Handyman Awarded 2013 Franchisee of the Year

Skip and Lorenzo Wyatt, father-and-son owners of Mr. Handyman in Upper Fairfield County, Conn., were recently recognized as the 2013 Franchisee of the Year from the national provider of home maintenance services.
The Wyatts were honored at the company’s annual convention, where they were invited to share their business expertise and accept their award in front of their peers from across the nation. With record sales growth of over 40 percent, the highly successful Wyatts are considered to be pioneers within the Mr. Handyman family because of the systems they have developed and implemented aimed at building and maintaining exceptional customer satisfaction.
“There are many well-deserving Mr. Handyman franchisees, but Skip and Lorenzo Wyatt stood out to us because they went above and beyond in leveraging new ways to generate revenue streams,” said Alex Roberts, President of Mr. Handyman. “They have demonstrated tremendous leadership and commitment to the Mr. Handyman brand.”

Skip and Lorenzo Wyatt employ a customer-focused approach to their business in order to maintain high levels of repeat business and customer referrals. Mr. Handyman works with Listen360, Inc., who independently monitors customer feedback and loyalty. The Wyatts’ Listen360 customer loyalty scores and repeat customer volumes were the highest in the country. They were also recently recognized by Angie’s List as a Super Service Award winner for the second year in a row. In addition, the Wyatts have consistently earned an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau.
The Wyatts are also regarded as experts on home energy efficiency within the Mr. Handyman network. In conjunction with the Connecticut Energy Efficiency Fund, the Wyatts developed a two-prong concept that focused on diagnosing and addressing home energy efficiency problems. They have shifted their focus to assisting home owners whose income levels make them eligible for free weatherization upgrades including; insulation, windows, doors, appliances, etc. The company now has 19 of its 32 full time employees devoted to home energy efficiency. The Wyatts are currently in the process of creating a system-wide “Mr. Handyman Green Initiative” to roll out to other owners.
