Beloved Blinn's Toy Store to Close in April

Internet shopping takes its toll on Fairfield business.

After more than 80 years of putting smiles on the faces of children of all ages, Blinn’s Toy Store has announced that it will be closing its doors in April because it can no longer compete with Internet shopping.

The beloved toy store made the announcement with the following post on its Facebook page:

ā€œUnfortunately, after several devastating years due to internet competition, I have to announce the impending closure of Blinn’s. In it’s 82 years this store has survived many things, but has been unable to stop the tide of internet shopping. Sometime in April we will be shutting our doors. Until then there will be storewide inventory clearance sales. Time marches on.ā€

Ginny Gilbertie Williams: I’m literally crying. This is so sad. Working there were some of the happiest times since I came back to CT. What a wonderful place you created. Fairfield is losing a treasure. Let me know if I can help with anything.

Sandy Beyerly: Oh no! My daughter’s first birthday gift was purchased there and every time I glance at it or now her little brother uses it I think of Blinn’s!

Jack McCarthy: Blinn’s used to be heaven as a kid, and really furthered my imagination. They had these amazing Tiger Squadron gliders, lots of RC Cars and Tamiya models, early Playmobil, die-case soldiers and RPG’s. What a wonderful place. It will be missed.

Nancy Leffert Earle: Don’t close, Blinn’s. We’ll miss you and never get the likes of you back. You will never be lost to the internet. Or to big box stores. We can find a way.
