Bridgeport Hospital ranks high in U.S. News & World Report 2012-13 Best Hospitals rankings.

Bridgeport Hospital is best in Fairfield County for Geriatrics, Nephrology, Pulmonology and Urology, according to U.S. News & World Report’s newly released 2012-13 Best Hospitals rankings. The hospital is the only one in the county listed as high performing in Geriatrics, Nephrology and Pulmonology, and is one of only two high performing hospitals in the county in Urology. This is the second consecutive year that Bridgeport Hospital is high performing in Geriatrics. The hospital added three more high performing specialties this year.

In addition, U.S. News noted that Bridgeport Hospital “scored high in patient safety, demonstrating a commitment to reducing accidents and medical mistakes.”

U.S. News surveyed nearly 10,000 specialists and examined data for approximately 5,000 hospitals to rank the best in 16 adult specialties, from cancer to urology. Death rates, patient safety, and hospital reputation were a few of the factors considered.
