Bus Delays Expected Tuesday In Fairfield; Many Drivers Out

The superintendent did not state the cause of the widespread absences, but the driver shortage comes as COVID-19 rates rise in Connecticut.

FAIRFIELD, CT — Fairfield parents should plan for bus delays Tuesday, according to the school district.

"We have been informed that many bus drivers will not be able to report to work tomorrow," Superintendent Mike Cummings said in a message that was posted Monday on Facebook by Board of Education Secretary Jessica Gerber. "All bus runs will take place but there are likely to be delays."

Parents who are able to take their children to school are asked to do so, Cummings said, adding that district officials expect the issue to persist as the week continues.
