Fairfield County Children’s Choir – Annual Spring Concert
Celebrating America’s 250th Birthday!
The Fairfield County Children’s Choir will honor America’s upcoming semiquincentennial with a stirring musical celebration at its 31st Annual Spring Concert to be held at The Klein Memorial Auditorium. This year’s program features eighteen patriotic selections, alongside a vibrant mix of classical, folk, pop, and international repertoire.
The choir will present beloved American standards including America the Beautiful, America (My Country, ’Tis of Thee), God Bless America, You’re a Grand Old Flag, This Land Is Your Land, and The Star-Spangled Banner. A special highlight will be an arrangement of Let There Be Peace on Earth, written specifically for the FCCC by the U.S. Military Academy Band at West Point.
To honor those who have served, the choir will perform the Armed Forces Medley, also arranged by the West Point Band. As each anthem is sung—the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, and Coast Guard—veterans and their families will be invited to stand. All audience members are welcome to sing along, creating a moment of shared gratitude and unity.
Another powerful centerpiece of the evening will be the Civil War Suite, arranged by FCCC Music Director Jon Noyes. This moving work weaves together The Battle Cry of Freedom, Tenting on the Old Campground, and The Battle Hymn of the Republic, interlaced with the Gettysburg Address and a solemn performance of Taps.
The program also showcases the choir’s musical range with selections such as Art Thou Troubled by G. F. Handel, This Little Light of Mine, and Here Comes the Sun by The Beatles. The FCCC Chamber Singers will offer a preview of the Irish repertoire they will perform during their tour of Ireland in late June—including one piece featuring traditional Irish step dancing by an FCCC chorister who is also a championship dancer.
This concert promises an evening of reflection, celebration, and musical excellence as the Fairfield County Children’s Choir honors America’s past, present, and future through song.
