Fairfield University will welcome Holocaust scholar and Ambassador Deborah Lipstadt on Thursday, September 10, for a lecture titled “Art, Memory, History: The Holocaust and Its Lessons for Our Moment.”

Dr. Lipstadt was confirmed by the U.S. Senate as the special envoy to monitor and combat antisemitism, with the rank of Ambassador. In that position, from 2022-25, Ambassador Lipstadt led efforts to advance U.S. foreign policy to counter antisemitism throughout the world. She has had a decorated career as a historian, academic, and author. Her messages are grounded in fighting hate, ensuring justice, and standing up to those who distort history for ideological purposes.

Dr. Lipstadt's visit also coincides with the dedication of a new Holocaust memorial sculpture on campus, She Wouldn’t Take Off Her Boots, honoring five Jewish women who stood strong in the face of terror during the Holocaust.
