Celebrating 133 years of History at the Greenfield Hill Grange

For 133 years, Greenfield Hill Grange #133 has been a cherished part of Fairfield. Tucked away on Hillside Road near the intersection of Congress Street, the Grange Hall is a hidden gem.

For first-time visitors, stepping inside the Grange Hall can feel a bit like stepping back in time.

Built in 1897 by Frank Perry, the Queen Anne-style building was expanded in the 1930s and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2008.

Each year, the annual Agricultural Fair celebrates that history with judged contests, juried exhibits, and ribbons in many categories. The premium list includes fruits, vegetables, flowers, photography, art, crafts, hobbies, and collections—and everyone is invited to enter.

Baking contests include Lemon Bliss Cake for adults, S’more Granola Bars for juniors, and a Two-Crusted Apple Pie contest. Recipes and rules are available on the Greenfield Hill Grange Facebook page. Entries may be dropped off at the Grange Hall the evening before the fair from 4:30-5pm.And Saturday morning from 8-9 am.

On fair day, visitors can browse a marketplace of handmade items, art, crafts, flowers, and fresh produce, along with demonstrations, music, and perhaps a few baby animals.
