Ceremony Celebrates Jewish American Heritage Month In Fairfield

The event, attended by more than 100 residents and officials, was held Wednesday in front of Old Town Hall.

FAIRFIELD, CT — In a powerful display of support, compassion and respect, more than 100 Fairfield residents and officials gathered Wednesday in front of Old Town Hall to celebrate Fairfield's Jewish Americans.

At the heart of the celebration, First Selectman Bill Gerber, read a proclamation declaring May 2024 as Jewish American Heritage Month in Fairfield, "and urge all residents to fight back against anti-Semitism and all forms of bigotry and to learn more about the heritage and contributions of Jewish Americans."

Additionally, the town has adopted the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance's working description of antisemitism, so that residents can understand the stain of antisemitism and fight against it whenever it is displayed.
