Check Your Powerball Tickets: $1 Million Winner Sold in Fairfield County
The $2 Powerball ticket was purchased Wednesday night.

Someone who purchased a $2 Powerball ticket in Fairfield County for Wednesday night’s drawing woke up this morning $1 million richer as a result of matching the first five numbers drawn on Jan. 21.
The winning Powerball numbers on Jan. 21 were 11-12-15-28-57 the Powerball number was 23. In total, 11,558 winning Powerball tickets were sold statewide for that date, with prizes ranging from $4 to $1 million, according to a press release.
Since the new Powerball game began on Jan. 15, 2012, Connecticut has sold 22 prize winning tickets each worth $1 million plus another six tickets that were “Power Played” for the game’s $2 million prize.

Winning tickets must be claimed within 180 calendar days of the drawing date before the prize expires. CT Lottery officials encourage all players to check their tickets online at ctlottery.org, by scanning in a lottery Ticket Checker, or at any lottery retailer location.
The overall odds of winning a Powerball prize are 1 in 31.8. The odds of winning a Powerball Match 5 prize are 1 in 5,153,633. Odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 175,223,510 million.
