Child Rescued After Inflatable Raft Drifts Offshore In Fairfield

The incident reportedly occurred Friday off Fairfield Beach Road.

FAIRFIELD, CT — A young girl was rescued by Fairfield police and fire personnel on Friday after her inflatable unicorn raft drifted offshore into Long Island Sound, reported News 12 Connecticut.

The incident occurred Friday off Fairfield Beach Road when the wind shifted and blew the raft far offshore.

An adult reportedly swam out to retrieve the girl, but became fatigued and was unable to bring the two of them back without the help of first responders. Patch reached out to Fairfield police for more information, but did not immediately receive a reply.

Such inflatable rafts are prohibited at Fairfield's public beaches, but Friday's incident reportedly occurred at a private beach.
