Children's Activity: The Art of the Selfie at Pequot Library in Fairfield
Friday, Oct. 17 from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

As part of the 17th Annual Art Show Weekend, this is a hands-on workshop for children 5+. It is presented by The Painted Bird who will help kids create self-portraits as unique as the artists themselves. Registration is required, plus a $5.00 materials fee. The Painted Bird creates programs in arts and crafts for kids of all ages.
Pequot Library’s 17th Annual Art Show is part of National Arts and Humanities Month in October. The arts are a part of our lives each and every day, and the nation takes the whole month of October to commemorate and celebrate the arts in big ways, it’s National Arts & Humanities Month - the largest annual celebration for the arts and humanities in the nation! Americans for the Arts encourages organizations to offer free events in their communities.
Art Show viewing is free and open to the public all day Friday, October 17, 10am – 6pm; Saturday, October 18, 10am to 4pm; and Sunday, October 19, 11am - 4pm.

Other Art Show weekend events include on Saturday, October 18, from 10am - 4pm, local galleries share their “Stories of Art” in an Art Gallery Afternoon Experience. Local art galleries transform the Perkin Gallery with the work of their favorite artists. Come learn the story of Amy Simon Fine Art, ARC Fine Art, Art/Place, J. Russell Jinishian Gallery, Bruce S. Kershner Gallery, Southport Galleries, and Troy Fine Art Services. Free and open to the public.
Saturday, October 18, 6:30pm - 9:30pm, Fundraising Gala. Enjoy an evening of fine art, Cocktails & Hors d’oeuvres, and a variety of silent auction items sure to please all. Catering by Collyer Catering & Market of Westport. Tickets available online at pequotlibrary.org.

Sunday, October 19, from 11am - 4pm, the public has a unique opportunity to have their own antiques and heirlooms appraised during the Appraisal Day: Antiques, Fine Art and Collectibles. Bring your treasures to Pequot Library where experts from NYC-based Heritage Auctions will evaluate your heirloom items. Registration is now open at pequotlibrary.org. $20.00 per piece in advance/$25.00 per piece at the door.
