Clerk Assaulted In Robbery Of Gas Station In Fairfield

One person was arrested after being tracked down by a K-9 and police are looking for a second suspect.

FAIRFIELD, CT — One juvenile has been arrested and police are looking for a second suspect in connection to the robbery of the Star Fuels gas station Saturday night in Fairfield. The store clerk called 911 to report that the gas station, located at 350 Jennings Road, had been robbed at about 9:40 p.m. on June 23. The clerk told police that he had just been robbed by two black males, including one who may have had a gun underneath his shirt, according to Lt. Robert Kalamaras.

The second male punched the clerk in the face just before taking cash from the register, according to Kalamaras. The clerk, who wasn’t seriously injured, told police the men were last seen running on Jennings Road.

Kalamaras said a K-9 track led officers directly to a man that matched the description of one of the suspects emerging from a residential backyard at the intersection of Old Stratfield Road and Black Rock Turnpike. He was taken into custody without incident. Items of evidence from the robbery were located near where the suspect was taken into custody, according to Kalamaras. After several K-9 tracks were conducted, officers were unable to locate the second suspect.
