Community Rallies Around Fairfield Girl, 8, After Death Of Parents

The girl lost her mother this past June and her father in 2015. An online fundraiser has been launched on her behalf.

FAIRFIELD, CT — The community is rallying around an 8-year-old Fairfield girl who lost her mother this past June and her father in 2015. An online fundraiser has been launched at YouCaring.com in support of the girl. "She truly needs our community's help," the post reads.

The Osborn Hill School PTA is working with the girl’s extended family and her friends to raise money for her needs, according to the post on YouCaring.com. The page was organized by Pamela Carter.

According to the page, funds are being raised for the following:

  • a permanent home for her and those caring for her;
  • her immediate and long-term medical care (to provide what insurance doesn't cover); and
  • her personal needs, such as clothing and shoes, extracurricular activities, and summer programs.

“All donations collected will go into a trust for her benefit, which has been carefully crafted by a team of lawyers and accountants who donated their time, and which will be administered by trustees on a pro bono basis,” according to the YouCaring page.

More than $4,200 has been raised by 65 donors as of Tuesday afternoon.
