Cousins Accused Of Trying To Steal From Fairfield Store: Police
A woman and her cousin are charged after she tried to wear a pair of pants out of the store without paying, according to police.
FAIRFIELD, CT — A Bridgeport woman and her cousin are charged with stealing about $100 in merchandise from the Fairfield Kohl's, according to police.
Store security called police after Brendaliz Ortiz entered the business at 290 Tunxis Hill Road and tried to wear a pair of pants out of the store without paying for them, a Fairfield police report said. Security confronted Ortiz in the parking lot and found earrings and makeup from the business in her pockets, according to the report. The incident occurred about 8:30 p.m. Oct. 28.
Ortiz, 28, was charged with larceny and conspiracy to commit larceny, the report said. Her cousin, Jose Alvarez, 37, faces the same charges, according to the report. Both Ortiz and Alvarez were released on promises to appear in court Nov. 6, the report said.

Ortiz's two children were present for the incident, so the Department of Children and Families was notified, according to the report.
