CT PSYCHOLOGIST SELECT SENATOR TONY HWANG AS "DISTINGUISHED LEGISLATOR OF THE YEAR"

The award recognizes Senator Hwang’s leadership and effort in addressing mental health support and services.

The Connecticut Psychological Association (CPA) selected Sen. Tony Hwang as the 2022 recipient of its “Distinguished Legislator of the Year“ award.

“This award acknowledges Sen. Hwang’s track record of advocating for and supporting health and wellness, the interests of children and families, and investment in education,” said CPA President Jennifer M. Doran. “Sen. Hwang has a deep understanding of and commitment to ameliorating the effects of the current mental health crisis. He is a cornerstone for the 28th District, a true champion of the people, and an incredible leader in and for his community.”

“This recognition from our state’s highly respected association of psychology medical professionals that serve on the frontline of mental health support and services is a tremendous and humbling honor,” Sen. Hwang said. “I remain committed to addressing the mental health crisis and inequities in healthcare that impact Connecticut residents and give thanks to the medical professionals who help and heal those struggling with mental health challenges.”

Sen. Hwang also applauds and support the important work of American Foundation of Suicide Prevention. ASFP’s Out of the Darkness Community Walk is a journey of remembrance, hope, and support. It unites our communities and provides an opportunity to acknowledge the ways in which suicide and mental health conditions have affected our lives and the lives of those we love and care about. The Fairfield County Walk will be in Westport on October 21, 2022, to learn more about the walk - ASFP.org.
