Date Set For Return Of Fairfield Farmers Market On Sherman Green

Fairfield Farmers Market returns to Sherman Green for the 11th season, with more than 40 vendors, live music and community programs.

FAIRFIELD, CT — The Fairfield Farmers Market will return to Sherman Green on Sunday, June 7, marking its 11th season in downtown Fairfield.

The market, organized by Fairfield Farmers Market and Fairfield Community Services, will be held Sundays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., rain or shine, through Oct. 11.

More than 40 farms, food producers and artisan vendors are expected to participate. Organizers said six Connecticut vegetable farms will offer seasonal vegetables, fruits and salad greens. Other products available at the market will include meat, eggs, fish, bread, honey, baked goods, mushrooms, flowers, pickles, prepared foods, artisan crafts and other goods.

The market also will feature live music at the gazebo and story hours hosted by the Fairfield Public Library throughout the season.

Food Rescue US will return to collect food donations from vendors for local food pantries. Sustainable Fairfield will provide information on recycling and local sustainability initiatives. Organizers said the market also will host a series of food drives to benefit Operation Hope.

"We are excited to host this popular community event every Sunday on historic Sherman Green," Anthony Calabrese, chief of community services, said in a statement. "Come support local farms and small businesses and enjoy the best seasonal products around."
