The Scent Guru Group’s mission is to improve lives through the sense of smell. I have spent 30 years developing fragrances for shampoos, detergents and perfumes for celebrities such as Celine Dion, Beyoncé, and Tim McGraw. After my mother died of dementia in 2016, I decided to take my expertise and develop a sensory activity using distinctive smell prompts (grass, chocolate, etc.,) and clue cards to help engage seniors living with dementia in an stimulating activity to help them recall memories through the sense of smell. The activity also facilitates social interaction in their Assisted Living or while being cared for by home care providers. In 2017, I took my savings and manufactured Essential Awakenings® Smell and Memory Kits, and started my Shopify site, The Scent Guru Group, and in 2019 I expanded the concept and developed MindScent®, a patent pending multi sensory educational, discovery and communication kit that targets parents, Speech Therapists working with children who have speech communication impairments and/or learning disabilities. I currently am offering Essential Awakenings® with a Smell Training Guide developed for me by neuroscientist, Dr. Rachel Herz, who is also an expert in the psychology of the sense of smell. I am currently selling my products to a broad range of B-C and B-B: Hospitals, Speech Therapists, Assisted Living Communities, libraries and families.
