Dog Bites High School Student, Fairfield Animal Control Seeks Owner

Fairfield Animal Control is asking for help in locating the dog's owner to learn about its rabies vaccination history.

Fairfield, CT — Fairfield Animal Control is trying to locate the owner of a dog that bit a high school student on Monday morning in an effort to learn the dog’s rabies vaccination history.

The 16-year-old high school student was walking to his car parked on Knapps Highway near Melville Avenue at about 10 a.m. on Monday.

“As he approached his car a middle aged dark haired woman on a cell phone passed him in the road leash walking a small mostly black with some white dog,” Fairfield Animal Control posted on Facebook. “The small dog jumped up on the student’s leg and the dog owner yelled for the dog to get down. The student then went to his car where he discovered he was bitten on his leg by the dog. The dog owner was then out of sight and could not be located by the student. The student after visiting his physician has been advised that he is now a candidate to receive post exposure rabies shots due to the unknown rabies vaccine history of the biting dog.”
