Dog Rescued From Sewer By Fairfield First Responders
Public works employees heard the dog in the sewer and lifted the grate to investigate.

FAIRFIELD, CT — Fairfield first responders came to the rescue Friday, saving a dog who was stuck in a sewer drain.
Fire department, public works and animal control personnel came together to aid the animal, according to a Facebook post published Friday afternoon by Fairfield Fire Fighters Association IAFF 1426.
“The dog had been in the drain since last night, and was taken to a vet to be checked out,” the post said.

In a Facebook message to Patch staff, fire union leadership said the public works employees were the “real heroes,” having heard the dog in the sewer and lifted the grate to investigate.
According to a post on the Facebook group Lake Mohegan Lovers, the small white dog, named Buddy, broke through his invisible fence overnight in the Lake Mohegan area, but is now safe.
