Drunk Woman Hits Fairfield Police Vehicle, Flees: Cops
The driver's blood alcohol content was nearly three times the legal limit, police said.
FAIRFIELD, CT — A Norwalk woman is accused of striking a Fairfield police vehicle while drunk, according to law enforcement.
The incident occurred about 8 p.m. Thursday, when a Fairfield traffic sergeant’s vehicle was hit on the Old Post Road near South Benson Road, a news release from the police department said. A driver crossed the double yellow lines while traveling east, sideswiped the police vehicle and fled, according to the news release.
The sergeant whose vehicle was struck was assigned to DUI enforcement and followed the driver, who pulled over a couple hundred yards away, police said. No one was injured, but both vehicles sustained minor damage.

The driver, identified as Erin Daley, 30, of the 200 block of West Cedar Street in Norwalk, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, evading responsibility and failure to maintain proper lane, according to the news release. A chemical analysis found Daley’s blood alcohol content to be nearly three times the legal limit, police said.
Daley was released after posting a $1,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court Sept. 29, according to the news release.

This is the second police vehicle to be struck by a suspected drunk driver in Fairfield within a two-week period.
