E-Scooter Operator, 15, Struck By Vehicle In Fairfield: Police
The crash occurred Wednesday afternoon, according to authorities.
FAIRFIELD, CT — A 15-year-old e-scooter operator suffered minor injuries Wednesday afternoon in a collision with a motor vehicle in Fairfield, according to police.
The crash occurred at about 3 p.m. in the intersection of Thompson Street and Knapps Highway, Capt. Antonio Granata told Patch.
"The 15-year-old sustained minor injuries, reporting scrapes to their knee, and declined medical transport," Granata said. "The parent of the 15-year-old was on scene."

No other injuries were reported, but Granata said the e-scooter operator was not wearing a helmet at the time.
"As a reminder, the Fairfield Police Department encourages anyone operating an e-bike or e-scooter to wear a helmet," Granata said. "In this incident, the 15-year-old was not wearing a helmet. Wearing proper safety equipment can significantly reduce the risk of serious injury and is an important step in staying safe while using these devices."

The driver of the vehicle that struck the e-scooter operator was issued a verbal warning for Failure to Grant the Right of Way to a Pedestrian, according to Granata.
