Explore Machu Picchu with Author Mark Adams

Mark Adams, author of New York Times bestselling book Turn Right at Machu Picchu, Exploring the Lost City One Step at a Time, will visit the Library for an author talk and book signing on Tuesday, April 16 at 7:00 pm.  In recent times, explorer Hiram Bingham III has been recast as a villain who smuggled out precious items and stole credit for finding Machu Picchu.  Adams left his desk job to search for some answers by retracing Bingham’s perilous 1911 journey in the mountains of Peru.  Adams takes readers through some of the world’s most beautiful and challenging terrain, following the paths of Bingham and the Incas as he transforms from an armchair adventurer into a real one.  Join us for an intriguing author talk in the Memorial Room at the Main Library, 1080 Old Post Road.

Turn Right at Machu Picchu was named one of the best books of 2011 by The Washington Post and Men’s Journal. Adams's first book, Mr. America, was named one of the year's best books by the Washington Post in 2009.  A writer for many national publications, including GQ, Outside and The New York Times, he lives near New York City with his wife and children.
