Land Trust hosts Explorer Richard Wiese at Pequot

Explorer Richard Wiese to
speak at Aspetuck Land Trust
Annual Meeting

June 2nd from 7 to 9pm

Join the Land Trust's Annual Meeting & Reception which will feature explorer, scientist, adventure television host, author, and Weston resident, Richard Wiese who will discuss his book, Born To Explore, a guidebook for adults and children about how to survive while exploring the great outdoors, whether it be in the Amazon or in your own backyard.

Starting in September on ABC, Wiese will host "Born to Explore," a science education adventure show.  He will travel to places such as Belize and Australia and introduce his viewers to not only the environment but also to the people he meets along the way.

In 2002, Wiese became the youngest president in the Explorers Club’s one-hundred-year history. He has tagged jaguars in the Yucatan jungles, captured crocodiles, achieved the first ascent of an unclimbed mountain in Alaska, discovered twenty-nine new life forms on Mount Kilimanjaro in Africa; and cross-country skied to the North Pole. He has traveled to all seven continents: he has received many awards and accolades; and he has spoken around the world.

There will be a brief business meeting to elect new board members and to highlight key accomplishments in 2010.  Books will be available for purchase and signing, hors d’oeuvres and refreshments from Whole Foods Market, Fairfield and Newman's Own will be provided.
