Evaluation Underway For Insanity Defense In Fairfield Murder Case
James Taylor, who is accused of killing his ex-wife, is currently free on bond.

FAIRFIELD, CT — The evaluation process is underway to determine if a Fairfield man can use an insanity defense in his ex-wife's killing, according to the Connecticut Post. James Taylor, 75, is accused of shooting his ex-wife, Catherine Taylor, and assaulting his stepson in February at his stepson's home.
Taylor is charged with murder, home invasion, burglary and assault, court records state. His case has been continued to Aug. 26, the Connecticut Post reported.
Taylor is free after his son posted the $2 million bond, but he is under court order to live at his son's Fairfield home, the Connecticut Post reported. Taylor skipped a court hearing earlier in the month for a civil case in which he is accused of attempting to steal his stepson's inheritance, according to the Connecticut Post, which led to a judge freezing $5 million of Taylor's assets.
