Fairfield would have advanced if Vermont beat Maine on Monday tonight. Otherwise, it would have a chance to move on with a win over Maine on Tuesday.

If neither of those things, Fairfield would still have an opportunity to advance provided it allows fewer runs per inning than either Maine or Rhode Island in three-way tie at 2-1. In that scenario, Fairfield would need to lose to Maine by as few runs as possible.
