Fairfield Accident Backs Up I-95 For 20 Miles

A two-vehicle accident caused delays Thursday.

FAIRFIELD, CT — An accident closed a lane of Interstate 95 in Fairfield during rush hour Thursday, according to state officials, causing congestion for more than 20 miles. The incident was reported just after 4 p.m. Thursday, according to the Connecticut Department of Transportation. The northbound left lane was closed after the two-vehicle accident between Exits 21 and 22, the department reported, backing up traffic from Exits 2 to 22, a 22.6-mile stretch. The scene was cleared by 4:20 p.m.
