Fairfield American Beats Williston-Vermont in New England Regional Opener

The Fairfield American Little League team opened the New England Regional tournament with a 9-4 victory over Williston-Vermont Friday night in Bristol.

Fairfield (13-1) will face Maine tonight (Aug. 2).

Trey Hensel had a home run as part of Fairfield’s nine-hit attack.

“Very happy to get the win,” Fairfield head coach Mike Steed told Mary Albl of the New Haven Register/GameTimeCT.com. “Game one you really got to get the win, don’t (want) to start this tournament in the hole. Vermont is a great team and we knew that we’d have to battle.”
