Fairfield American Little League Advances to New England Regional Final

The Fairfield American Little League team scored early and often in cruising past Barnstable-Massachusetts 9-0 Thursday afternoon in Bristol to advance to the New England Regional final.

Fairfield American (16-2) will face Rhode Island (11-1) Saturday at 7 p.m. in a game that will be broadcast on ESPN.

“It feels amazing,” second baseman Jack Steed told Mary Albl of the New Haven Register/GameTimeCT of advancing to the championship. “Rhode Island is going to be a tough game; we got to take it one game at a time, one out at a time.”

Fairfield American jumped out to a 7-0 lead by the second inning, keyed by a home run from Jamie Flink and a three-run triple by Steed.
