Fairfield American Little League Blasts Maine in Regional Tournament

Flink pitches five shutout innings, Fairfield improves to 2-0 in pool play.

The Fairfield American Little League team continued its fast start in the New England Regional Tournament, rolling past Maine 10-0 Saturday night in Bristol.

Fairfield improved to 2-0 in pool play and 14-1 overall in the postseason.

Fairfield banged out 13 hits and Jamie Flink took care of the rest, limiting Maine to just three hits over five scoreless innings while striking out five.

“Well, I definitely think that was one of my best performances,” Flink told Mary Albl of the New Haven Register/GameTimeCT.com. “I think that I had pretty good command tonight. I just tried to keep the players of Maine off balance and a couple times I did, and they’re a really good hitting team.”

Ian Bentley went 3-for-4 while Vince Camera and P.J. Egan had three RBIs apiece.

Fairfield plays New Hampshire tonight (Aug. 3) at 8 p.m.
