Monroe (4-2) actually led 4-0 heading into the bottom of the second before Fairfield American erupted for 12 runs.

"These guys were nervous, this was a big game for them," Fairfield American head coach Mike Steed told Mary Albl of the New Haven Register/GameTimeCT.com. "Monroe is an excellent team. We knew if we could hit today, we knew we'd have a chance to beat them. These guys did a fantastic job in the second inning."
