Fairfield American Little League Wins Section I Title, Advances to States

Fairfield makes quick work of Farmington in completion of Wednesday's game.

It may have technically taken two days, but the Fairfield American Little League team made quick work of Farmington when Wednesday's suspended game was completed on Thursday.

The two teams returned to Roche Field in Orange Thursday night after the game was stopped in the eighth inning Wednesday night when the storms rolled in.

Fairfield picked things up on Thursday with two on and two outs in the bottom of the eighth with the scored tied at 1.

Vince Camera made sure Fairfield wouldn't have to wait long for its fate to be decided, slapping the game-winning hit to left field to score John Reynolds to complete the victory in less than 10 minutes, according to Mary Albl of GameTimeCT.com/New Haven Register.

With the 2-1 victory, Fairfield advances to the state tournament and will face South Windsor Saturday in the first game of a best-of-three series. The game is set for 2 p.m. at the Harwinton Sports Complex in Harwinton.
