Fairfield American’s Run Falls Short of Little League World Series
The team's inspiring run came to an end in the New England Regional championship game.

FAIRFIELD, CT — The Fairfield American Little League team’s inspiring run from the losers’ bracket to the verge of making the trip to Williamsport, Pa., and the Little League World Series, came to an end over the weekend.
Fairfield American’s dreams were dashed with a 5-1 loss to Warwick, R.I., in the New England Regional championship game Saturday in Bristol — one win short of qualifying for the Little League World Series.
Warwick’s Colin Lemieux kept Fairfield American’s bats in check with five strong innings on the mound and also hit a two-run home run and finished with three RBIs.

Fairfield American manager Brian Grady told the Connecticut Post after the game that the team has no reason to hang their heads and they’ll remember the experience forever, adding that “it was a tremendous run.”
Despite the loss, the run to the New England Regional final continues to add to Fairfield American’s legacy, Doug Bonjour writes in the Fairfield Citizen. It was the program’s fifth appearance in the New England Regional tournament in the last seven years.
