Fairfield American Sails Into Little League World Series

Powered by the pitching of Matt Kubel and the hitting of Will Lucas and Kevin Oricoli, Fairfield shutout Bedford, N.H., 14-0, in the New England Regional final Saturday at Breen Field, according to a report in the Fairfield Citizen.

"The offense definitely helped me out," Kubel, who struck out four and got 17 outs, said in the report by Citizen sports editor Pat Pickens. "It makes you know that you don't have to throw the perfect pitch and I knew I could make a few mistakes and not get burned."

Fairfield American faces West Regional champion , at the open of the 2012 Little League World Series scheduled for 3 p.m. Thursday at Lamade Field in South Williamsport, Pa.
