Fairfield American Takes Opener of Little League Division I State Tournament

Richie Kerstetter’s pitching and hitting helped lead the Fairfield American Little League team to a 7-4 comeback victory over Hamden in the opening game of the state Division I tournament Wednesday at McGuane Park in Darien.

Hamden jumped out to a 4-0 lead but Fairfield American rallied and Kerstetter hit the go-ahead home run in the fourth inning and recorded the last 11 outs on the mound to seal the victory, according to the Connecticut Post.

Fairfield American will play again Thursday night against Stamford North at 7 p.m. at Scalzi Park in Stamford.
