Fairfield U Announces 2022 Awards Dinner Honorees, Event Details

The university will celebrate five who exemplify professional excellence and service to the community at an April event in New York City.

FAIRFIELD, CT —Fairfield University recently announced it will honor five people at its 2022 Fairfield Awards Dinner who "exemplify the Jesuit tradition of professional excellence and service to the community."

The school also released information about the award's dinner, which will benefit the university's Alumni Multicultural Scholarship Fund and other scholarships. Over the years, the dinner has raised nearly $20 million in scholarship money for deserving students, the school said.

"The dinner is also an opportunity for us to recognize some of the individuals who have made significant contributions to the vitality of the university community," said Wally Halas, vice president for university advancement.

The dinner will be held at 6 p.m. on April 20 at Cipriani 42nd Street in New York City. Cocktails will be served for the first hour, and the dinner and program will take place from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the restaurant, located at 110 E. 42nd Street. The event venue will adhere to New York City COVID-19 protocols.

  • Michael Archbold '82 —Professional Achievement Award

Arcbold has spent years in leadership positions for companies like: Talbots, The Vitamin Shoppe, GNC, Saks Fifth Avenue and Auto Zone, and he has been a guest lecturer at Fairfield's Charles F. Dolan School of Business.

He is a former CEO and current member of the Board of Directors of the Council for Inclusive Capitalism with The Vatican and is a trustee for the Committee for Economic Development of The Conference Board (CED).

  • Maureen Errity Bujno '90 — Alumni Service Award

Errity Bujno is currently an Audit & Assurance managing director and the governance leader for the Center for Board Effectiveness at Deloitte & Touche LLP.

She has served on Fairfield's Alumni Association Board of Directors and as board president. Errity Bunjo also was on the Trustee Advisory Council and the Our Promise Campaign committee at Fairfield.

  • Rev. Gerry Blaszczak —Distinguished Faculty/Administrator Award

Blaszczak first joined the Fairfield community as university chaplain 12 years ago. He is known for his promotion of interfaith dialogue and inclusiveness, his inspiring homilies, his leadership abilities, as well as his engaging personality, according to the university.

  • John Berisford and Lori Berisford — Parent Leadership Award

The Berisfords —whose daughters Lane, '20, and Liza, '21, graduated from Fairfield — served as the co-chairs of the university's Parents Leadership Council (PLC), and they were fixtures at annual Alumni & Family Weekends and many PLC events.

John Berisford, who currently is the president of S&P Global Ratings, has spoken to students at the Charles F. Dolan School of Business about the value of a liberal arts education in the business world.
