Fairfield-Based LGBTQ+ Bar Abruptly Closes

FAIRFIELD, CT — Trevi Lounge, an LGBTQ+ bar at 548 Kings Highway Cutoff in Fairfield, has closed, owner Katia Capozziello announced this week on Instagram.

The abrupt closure ends a run of nearly two decades for the gay bar, which as recently as Labor Day Weekend was cheekily touting drink specials "for all the workers we love."

"It is with a heavy heart that I share that after 17 years, we have decided it is time to close Trevi Lounge," Capozziello wrote. "First and foremost, I want to thank our staff, every single one of you who has worked with us over the years. I remember all of you from day one."

The bar was instrumental in the creation of Fairfield Pride events, and was known for its karaoke nights and live musical performances.

Capozziello did not give a reason for the closure, but also thanked the bar's patrons for their support.

"I want to thank our customers, our community, our performers, the Bridgeport Pride Center, our DJs, and everyone who was part of this journey. I can't forget Fairfield Center Stage and the partnership we built together."

In June, Pride Holdings Group announced it had acquired Trevi Lounge, though terms were not disclosed.

The Florida-based holding company said it "plans to leverage its operational expertise and capital resources to further optimize Trevi Lounge’s performance through strategic marketing initiatives, enhanced programming, and potential brand expansion opportunities."

Details of those plans were not disclosed.

"Trevi Lounge is exactly the type of asset we seek—culturally significant, operationally sound, and positioned for scalable growth," Tim Majors, Chief Operating Officer of Pride Holdings Group, said in a statement in June. "This acquisition enhances our hospitality portfolio while reinforcing our commitment to investing in iconic venues that serve as community pillars."

If or when Trevi Lounge might reopen under the guidance of Pride Holdings Group is not known. Patch reached out to the holding company for comment, but did not immediately receive a reply.
