Fairfield Boy, 9, Wins Prestigious Lego Role
The boy was one of 12 kids to be named to Legoland Discovery Center's 2018 Creative Crew.

FAIRFIELD, CT — Fairfield’s Cristian Santa, 9, has been selected by LEGOLAND Discovery Center Westchester to become part of its 2018 Creative Crew. Santa will join 11 others, all ages 10 or under, from the New York metro region to act as special ambassadors for the Ridge Hill attraction, according to a press release.
Santa will assist LEGOLAND Discovery Center Westchester’s Master Model Builder Anthony Maddaloni with a range of exciting activities including exclusive building sessions, attending and reporting on special events, and testing out new rides and games. Each member of the crew also receives a Family 4-Pack of Annual Passes for one year.
“I have been building LEGOs since I was 1-year-old,” Santa said. “I used to take apart LEGO sets and wonder ‘how can I make this better?’ and I build many things to use out of LEGOs including cups, frames, and other toys. LEGOs are like another body part of mine. I also have dyslexia and have trouble with reading and writing, but I am good at building with LEGOs and they bring me joy.”

The announcement follows a two-month search. Submissions were evaluated on the creativity and enthusiasm exhibited in the child’s response, and imagination conveyed in the child’s LEGO model, according to the press release. A special introduction event will take place in April when the incoming Creative Crew will meet with Maddaloni and learn about their new role.
“Selecting this year’s Creative Crew was a tough job,” Maddaloni said. “We had so many amazing creations that made choosing just 12 very difficult. I’m thrilled to begin mentoring our new crew as they explore their imagination and am excited to see what they will accomplish in the year ahead.”
