Fairfield Bridge Will Close To Traffic For Several Months

The closure is expected to continue through the construction season until around the first week of December.

FAIRFIELD, CT — A Fairfield bridge is expected to close in the coming days and remain inaccessible through most of 2022 while it is rebuilt.

The contractor for the Duck Farm Road Bridge reconstruction project anticipated closing the area on or around Monday, according to an email to residents sent earlier in the month by First Selectwoman Brenda Kupchick. The closure is expected to continue through the construction season until around the first week of December.

“Please know there is always a possibility with large projects like these to experience delays, especially with some of the supply chain issues and extreme weather,” Kupchick said in the email.

The main detour will use Brookside Drive and Mill Plain Road, but the town will install signs before the bridge to alert traffic to take alternate routes and avoid the area, if possible. The Fairfield Police Traffic Unit will monitor potential issues.

The Board of Selectmen approved the project in November, and the town has since been going through the permitting process with the state. For more information, contact the town's engineering department at 203-256-3015.
