Fairfield Business Hit By Hoax Bomb Threat

An email demanded money to advert a bomb detonation.

FAIRFIELD, CT — The Fairfield Country Club was one of many victims targeted by hoax bomb threats across Connecticut and the nation Thursday.

The country club got an email that said there was a bomb in the building and if they didn't send $20,000 in bitcoin it would be detonated, said Lt. Robert Kalamaras.

The business and parking lot were evacuated. A Bridgeport explosives detection K-9 swept the area and didn't find any device.

Schools in Madison, Suffield and Griswold were evacuated due to threats. Wesleyan University also received a threat. Several businesses and other entities were targeted as well in Connecticut.
