Fairfield Cancels Vigil To Respect Family's Wishes
The Andrews family reportedly doesn't want the domestic violence label associated with their tragedy and did not endorse the planned vigil.
Fairfield officials have canceled a planned vigil that was going to be held Sunday night on the Old Town Hall Green in conjunction with advocates against domestic violence out of respect to the wishes of the family involved with this week’s tragedy.
“To respect the wishes of the Andrews family the vigil Sunday has been cancelled thank you for offering your support,” First Selectman Mike Tetreau posted on Twitter Friday evening.
The Connecticut Post reports the family of Christopher Andrews, the man shot dead by police for failing to comply with orders to drop his weapon, does not want the label “domestic violence” associated with their tragedy and they consider what happened early Tuesday morning at their Mountain Laurel Road home to be completely out of character for Christopher Andrews.
